Restaurant

In de centre of the Jordaan, near the Noordermarkt with on Monday's the famous lapjesmarkt (fabrics market) and on Saturday the organic market and the many wonderful shops in the Prinsenstraat and Herenstraat, is located the café de Vergulde Gaper ('the quilted chemist's shop'). The café is, as the name suspects, situated in an old chemist and inside are many old chemist characteristics.

Outside is a large terrace with on the side of the façade heating for less perfect days. On sunny days the terrace across the street has the most sun hours in the whole of Amsterdam.
The open kitchen serves great sandwiches and salads during the day, and at night until 10:00 p.m. great meals "without hoo-ha". There is always a course of the day for under €10.00.
From lunches to snacks and dinners, and from true locals from the Jordaan to students and tourists, it's all here.
