It started out as "dochter van Stevens" (Daughter of Stevens), the famous café on the Nieuwmarkt, and since then Koosje has become a big girl....Born in 2001 Koosje truly has earned her place in the Plantage area.

It has a "brown" yet comfortable interior in which you may snug on to the couch. Koosje welcomes both "eaters" as well as "drinkers".

Lots of season dishes, good vegetarian options, "award winning" house wine. Combine all of this with good service and waiters who understand when you want just a quick bite to eat or whether you're looking for a long evening of dining, and you will understand why Koosje is chock block during dinner time. Don't worry often a table becomes available within half an hour, and the staff will keep an eye out for you.

Café

A café with a wider mix of visitors is hard to find. Koosje is the living room of the young locals of the Plantage area, but people from ages 18 through 80 feel at home here. Visitors of Artis often find Koosje immediately due to which it is 'nice and chaotic' on a Sunday...Prior to which we have welcomed the visitors of the TV programme Buitenhof.

Studio Plantage, where also the show "de wereld draait door" is taped, is close by and it shows. The proper Amsterdam habit to have a quick drink in the local pub is kept in honour. And Koosje is always open, throughout the day and most holidays.

Koosje is a good example of how the Plantage area has developed: from a slightly decentralized, musty-stylish neighbourhood (many considered the Waterlooplein as the end of the centre) to a lively neighbourhood in full development with more and more great bars and restaurants.

Menu

Honest, fresh and creative are the catch words of Koosje's kitchen. Menus change frequently and the seasons are well regarded. Good vegetarian options. Great breakfasts, lunches and sandwiches. Have a go at Koosje!

There are options; however these change per time of day/week.

Terrace

Lovely terrace with plenty of sun. The bar is at a corner, which allows the world to pass by both during the winter as well as the summer. Perfect place to spot and get spotted... A particular terrace, at a quiet spot, with long tables which is perfect for large groups to have dinner.

Open all day throughout the season, great terrace meeting place for lunch, aperitif, booze spree, informal gatherings. And reasonably large, so no long waiting lists for a seat.

Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. till 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday until 3:00 a.m.
