It started out as a small Amsterdam café and after several refurbishments Van Puffelen is now one of the hot spots in Amsterdam. It is divided in two large canal houses, so dine with style and/or simply have a draft beer in the café. Van Puffelen is, due to the arrangement of space, very suitable for groups. The wine menu is exquisite and of superior quality. We have special menus for groups.

With Easter VanPuffelen is open for a delicious Easter brunch / lunch.

Café

The place it all began: an Amsterdam 'brown' bar with a few tables at which, it turned out, you could have a great meal. So great that after the refurbishments the current café part of Van Puffelen is now hardly a quarter of the total restaurant. The atmosphere hasn't changed: locals, students, tourists, everyone is and feels welcome.

Have a beer with friends at night, a bite to eat on the terrace during the day, meet at a well-known meeting point. Also very suitable for a successful birthday party!

Menu

When looking at the menu you will notice a choice between various 'honest' dishes, something for everyone. Fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, traditionally prepared but with an Oriental touch. We serve a suitable dish for every taste.
Moreover, Van Puffelen has daily changing meat and fish specials. Upon request lactose-free dishes may be served. We are also prepared to take into account various allergies, if possible.

Groups

Dinners and lunches: three course meals with a wide choice from as low as €25 per person. After consultation, more or less anything is possible, and this is not an empty promise. Groups may vary from 10 to 150 people, or more in case of a buffet. Choice menus, whether or not based on the menu, buffets, and theme dinners; we focus on your wishes. Terrace

During the summer Van Puffelen's terrace is always too small, when the weather is nice the rush is enormous. In front of the two characteristic houses are chairs, tables and wooden benches. It is very difficult to keep the neighbours' doors accessible when one has an animated conversation with a beer and moves the furniture around the terrace...

In the lovely sunshine on the canal, great snacks and during weekends lunch sandwiches. In case of 'tropical weather' lots of tables to eat alongside the canal.

Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m.
Friday from 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon.
