At a stone throw from affiliate café Koosje you will find Café De Roeter. Across Roeters island with its large complex of the University of Amsterdam. The unexpected of De Roeter is that you find an aged bar right behind a rather bland new build façade. The interior is 'brown', with lots of light and plenty of space.

Of course De Roeter is the home of lots of (psychology) students and their professors. But lots of others have also found their way to De Roeters; locals and professionals from the area, as well as visitors of neighbour Kriterion cinema. In the Weesperbuurt (Weesper area) lots of people come and go for a sandwich, a good meal or a drink. Here the beer flows lavishly!

Café

During lunch hour the café often comes apart at the seams, fortunately the staff always keeps smiling. The student café to which you can easily bring your parents! It is a favourite at cocktail hour due to the unique mix of guests. They come in for the atmosphere, but also for the very reasonable "pre-Euro" prices.

And when you are comfortably sitting in a corner, and watch a student talking to a professor and a business woman relaxing after a long day at Sarphati Plaza, yes you truly are in Amsterdam.

It won't be a surprise that De Router has a low priced menu with many classics. However it is surprising how the chef manages to keep the prices so low, while the selection is broad and the quality high. De Roeter has a reputation to keep.

Groups

Of course graduation parties are a large part of the "group bookings". Always great and informal in a nice way. Give us a call, and all will be taken care of.

However De Roeter is also very suitable for parties and group dinners at night and during weekends.

Terrace

De Roeter has a comfortable and lively terrace. It is situated on a corner, therefore lots to see. During evenings when the Kriterion cinema has lots of visitors the terrace quickly bulges and a wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere originates.
