In prettiest part of the Old-West near the Overtoom, Vondelpark and the Wilhelmina-gasthuis area is located De Toog; a beautiful authentic building from 1890. The café has combined many functions for many years: a local's bar, but also the hot spot to which people from outside the area and even the city come to simply have a fantastic meal. The original 'Brood' (late famous Dutch painter and rock star) on the wall is there for a reason: De Toog was Brood's favourite hangout. De Toog is a perfect example of the area: people that have lived and worked in the areas for numerous years, newcomers, students, and even tourists. At this location you will find a more authentic piece of Amsterdam compared to many businesses in the centre of town.

De Toog's terrace is on the corner of the Brederode/Nicolaas Beetsstraat on a recently substantially enlarged sidewalk. The sun shines almost day. Unfortunately it isn't possible to reserve a table on the terrace: we suggest you come early for dinner!Opening hours
